Panther Mountain Stories

Panther Mountain Stories began with the discovery of a family heirloom: a love letter, ink on parchment paper, written in 1854 to my great-great-grandmother Caroline. On closer inspection, I realized the letter-writer was not my great-great-grandfather. The story grew from there as I searched for answers about who the writer was, why the letter was saved for more than 150 years and what life was like on Panther Mountain in pre-Civil War Virginia and Civil-War-born West Virginia.

And now, a new Panther Mountain book is out: Panther Mountain: Lydia’s Story.
